LASER SKIN REJUVENATION AND LASER SKIN RESURFACING

Laser and light-based treatment can help reduce fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and pigmentation, such as freckles and sunspots, through direct, short, concentrated, pulses of light.

Light-based treatments cover a wide range of skin problems including facial ageing, age spots, pigment changes, redness and other conditions.

At
cosmetic MD, we use the current generation of Fotona lasers, one of the most powerful and sophisticated laser systems in the world, for our laser treatments.

LASER SKIN REJUVENATION

What are the benefits of Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

Laser skin rejuvenation can be performed on the face, neck and decolletage (chest) but hands, arms and legs can be treated as well.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatment covers a wide range of conditions:

  • Smoothing fine lines
  • Shrinking skin pores
  • Fading pigmentation such as sun spots and freckles
  • Shrinking capillaries and spider veins
  • Hair removal in dark skin or in cases resistant to IPL
  • Major improvement to acne and helps in acne scarring
  • Rosacea control
How does Laser Skin Rejuvenation work?

Certain wavelengths of laser light are absorbed by pigment molecules in the skin. The energy absorbed is converted to heat causing a breakup in the pigment. In broken capillaries and spider veins the laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the blood and collapses the unwanted veins. For wrinkles, skin tightening and skin toning the laser stimulates collagen and elastin regrowth.

    Laser Technical Page.

    When will you see results?

The effects are cumulative. After the first treatment, you will see improvements to broken capillaries, small facial veins and some pigmented areas within a few days. Other improvements such as wrinkle reduction, skin tightening and toning will be more subtle and may take one to three months.  With each subsequent treatment, subtle changes will accumulate until you have achieved the improvement you desire.

How often can skin rejuvenation be performed?

A series of three to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart is standard. Occasionally, more treatments may be needed for certain individuals or conditions. Periodic maintenance treatments may be recommended for more desirable lasting results.

What can I expected immediately post Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

Immediately following the procedure you may experience some redness, swelling and/or a slight darkening of pigmented areas. The redness and swelling usually dissipate within one to three days however darkened pigmentation may persist and peel lightly for up to one week. Makeup can be applied to the treated area immediately, if necessary. It is extremely important to apply an SPF50 sun block and avoid sun exposure on a daily basis to prevent additional sun damage.

How long does a Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatment take?

The treatment takes approximately 30 – 60 minutes.

    FRACTIONAL SKIN RESURFACING

If you want to improve your skin texture, address fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne and other scars, or stretch marks, you will probably need a fractional skin resurfacing treatment. The treatment will help restore your skin to a healthy more even tone and texture. The new skin will feel smoother with the advantage of reducing pore size and scarring caused by acne.

    What is Fractional Skin Resurfacing?

Unlike other laser treatments, a fractional resurfacing laser treatment precisely targets thousands of microscopic areas in the skin by splitting the laser beam into a multitude of smaller pinpoint laser beams.

The treatment stimulates your body’s healing ability to replace the damaged skin with new healthy skin.  Because the skin surrounding the treated areas is not affected by the laser, healing is much faster and with less downtime than a full resurfacing treatment.

What happens after the Fractional Laser treatment?

Immediately after the initial healing is complete, the surface of your skin will feel softer, look brighter, and tone will start to become even. Progressive results occur over the next three to six months, as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal.

How many Fractional Laser treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you will need to achieve your desired results will depend on your skin type, the condition being treated, and how your skin responds to treatment.

How will my skin look after the treatment?

Following a treatment you may experience some redness and swelling. The intensity of these side effects will depend on how aggressive the treatment was and what skin condition is being treated.  It is important that you follow the post treatment recommendations of the doctor.
